We are pleased to announce the 23rd International Psychiatry Conference in Peshawar, scheduled to be held from 25th to 27th November 2022 on the theme "Mental Health and Sustainable Development Goals: Weaving together socio-cultural interventions in a digitized global world".
Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, lies just west of the Bara River, a tributary of the Kabul River, near the Khyber Pass. Situated to the East, are the remains of the largest Buddhist stupa in the subcontinent (2nd century CE) which marks the lengthy association of the city with Buddha and Buddhism. Once the capital of the ancient Buddhist kingdom of Gandhara, the city was known as Parasawara and Purusapura, but the present name Peshawar (Pesh Awar, the frontier town) is ascribed to the Mughal Emperor of India, Akbar (1556-1605 AD).
In line with its theme, this conference aims to bridge the gap between ideal and practical approaches towards dealing with issues related to mental health. With innovative approaches towards mental health promotion, involvement of inspiring field specialists, and vibrant interaction between attendees, this conference aspires to be an excellent mental health educational event as the conference has teamed up with both national and international experts in an attempt to steer the focus as a professional towards the promotion of mental health and prevention of mental disorders, more than the emphasis on the treatment.
